Victory
Printing Workshop with Candia and George 7/11/17

Very well attended popular workshop. Candia and George demonstrated techniques using polystyrene sheets and lino, showing us how to do simple prints from the polystyrene sheets and more complex work from the lino cuts.

We produced lots of very original work and masses of Christmas cards.
Definitely a very good and enjoyable workshop.
17/10/17: Outside Drawing Workshop with Nick Penn

Initially Nick showed us his sketch books, he records his walks and trips in quick, lively spontaneous work in his sketch book.

In spite of drizzly Cornish weather stalwart members set out with Nick to a nearby footpath.
We worked hard under his guidance to try and capture the same sort of spontaneity as he does in his work.

As the day went on we all made progress and achieved some pleasing work.
We also had a go with pen brushes as well as pen and pencil work.
We barely noticed the damp weather!
19/9/17:'Pop up' extra workshop with Julia Rowlands

Beautiful warm sunny weather greeted us at Glendurgan.
Julia brought along oil pastels and showed us how to use them in a very free and colourful way to capture the lush autumn colours of Glendurgan.
Very enjoyable and different way of working.

19/9/17 Botanical Art Workshop with Sarah Jane Humphries

Very interesting and challenging workshop with Sarah Jane.

She demonstrated her techniques using gouache and coloured pencils, showing us some of her beautiful work.

We all achieved some very good results under her guidance.

Outside Painting with Janet Judge 27/6/17

Great day with Janet. Initially we explored the gardens doing quick studies. Janet then demonstrated her way of working, using watercolours, showing her own very free style and fabulous colour use, very inspiring,

We then worked on our own interpretations of what we saw in the garden.
In spite of some damp weather we all managed to have a productive and inspirational day.

Excellent workshop. Tamsin demonstrated lots of very clever and skilful techniques which help to produce amazing portraits.

Very enjoyable day with many new skills learnt.
Constantine Village Hall wall painting

Grateful thanks to all members who assisted Gill and Rodney on 11th April painting the village hall walls.
It looks so much better and well worth our efforts.

Also the Society Committee has agreed to contribute £1000 towards the painting of the ceiling in the hall.

We've had our first outside painting session with George.
Fabulous Spring weather, working in the valley below the hall.
Looking forward to our next session early May.
The hall is always open as usual for inside work.
Lynn Golden Pastel Workshop 14/3/17

Lynn came along and gave us an amazing demonstration of loose pastel work. Also discussing pastel card, materials and techniques.

We then worked on still life under her guidance, trying to use the same freedom and spontaneity that she had used.

A great inspiring day.
Eve Bourrat Sketching and Drawing Workshop 7/2/17

Very full, enjoyable and challenging day with Eve.

Initially warm up exercises, 2 minute still lifes, using our pencils or pens in our non dominant hand, drawing with pencil taped to a fork!

Next each of us drawing a jigsaw piece then assembling the full puzzle.

After lunch, quick portrait drawing, followed by portrait either stitched or created out of soft wire, very creative results!

Finally a tissue collage based on a photo.

Absolutely amazing amount of variety and creative work produced in one day, proving how we can all move well outside our comfort zones, and stretch our skills.

Rob Carter Oil Painting Workshop 25th October 2016.

Rob started with an interesting and informative talk telling us how he had evolved into the artist he is now, from art school via a framing job, abstract work, landscapes, to his latest work featuring studies on iconic toys and bathrooms!
He then went on to explain his oil techniques and colour palette.
After lunch we painted either a still life set up by Rob, or used our own source material, incorporating his techniques,
A very interesting and illuminating day.
20th Sept 2016. Life Drawing Workshop with Philip Maire.

Very challenging and creative day. Philip gave excellent advice on the very difficult skill of Life Drawing.
He started with planning using stick men to visualise the skeleton, then short poses for 60 seconds, gradually building over the day to finishing with 40 minute poses.
Exhausting but very enjoyable!
