When I was 63 I was persuaded to take up an offer by Rugby School of Art of a 2 year Diploma course, consisting of painting in all mediums, drawing, history of art and printmaking. It turned out to be an excellent course and after the initial scariness I loved it. The three tutors were great and enthusiastic teachers and gave me a wonderful start to the world of painting. I now belong to Constantine Art Society and to Manaccan Art Group and paint there most weeks. I am also in my studio for 2 hours every morning, sometimes longer. I paint mostly in oils or pastel. Anything that catches my eye goes down on canvas or paper. Some survive and I go on painting getting exasperated and sometimes a little bit pleased.
